Cultural Awareness extends beyond “Getting Along” … It is being aware of the common differences between cultures increases trust, improves work relationships and streamlines projects. It also improves communication, which is the backbone to any successful community. Cultural awareness, cultural knowledge, and cultural skill development are crucial in the services we provide and in our interaction between the Scottish and African Caribbean groups. We aim to provide culturally responsive treatment services, counsellors and staff. Partners and organizations need to become aware of their own attitudes, beliefs, biases, and assumptions about others. We aim to invest in promoting cultural knowledge of the African Caribbean community here in Scotland both socially and professionally.
